Building consensus is very often difficult. People bring their own ideas to the discussion and finding common ground may be quite challenging. Consensus can be found when we focus on what people have in common, no matter whether it's a minute detail from their professional life or a big life event. When it comes to whether all people need to agree on a proposed solution, it is not always that easy. To some, the solution may appear ideal, to some - not in the slightest.
Leaders should not always insist on having their way. Leaders are there to lead, not to dominate the discussion. If the leader is bossy, it does not create any space for productive conversations. If possible, the leader should always consult other teammates on what they think about a given idea. In this way, mutual trust and respect are built.
