Indirect speech, czyli mowa zależna cechuje się pewnymi schematami konstruowania zdań. Używając czasowników wprowadzających (reporting verbs) by wyrazić polecenie, zakaz lub prośbę korzystamy z konstrukcji czasownik + (not) + to + bezokolicznik (infinitive), np.
- Warn + someone + (not) + to + infinitive
- Remind + someone + to + infinitive
W przypadku czasowników tell, refuse, remind, offer, advise, agree, invite, order, beg, promise, warn zdania tworzymy wykorzystując bezokolicznik, nie ma następstwa czasów.
