4.1. Before you leave for Ireland, remember to make sure your passport or ID is valid. If you want to save money on fares, consider buying a plane ticket a few months before your trip to Dublin. Also, remember to get health insurance to be able to use free health care services during your stay. When it comes to visas and permits, students from the EU don’t need them.

4.2. When you finally arrive in Dublin, you should try to find a place that suits your personality and lifestyle. You’ll soon see that the city offers various student housing options both in the centre and in the suburbs. But if you’d like to live in the city centre, close to shops and places of entertainment, you must remember that the rent will be higher.

4.3. Generally, the cost of living in Dublin can be really high for students. To spend less, don’t buy  new books. You should look at the reading list provided by your lecturer and consider other options available, such as borrowing books from the library, buying them from cheap second-hand bookshops or using electronic versions.  .

4.4  A lot of people cycle in Dublin because it’s not only fast and comfortable but also a good option to be more economical. If you are fond of cycling and want to avoid overcrowded public transport, you can try one of the city’s free bikes. There is also a student Leap Card that offers a convenient way to pay for public transport services at a discounted rate. It can be used on the Dublin underground, buses and trams.

4.5. Apart from studying and exploring the city, students staying in Dublin may find part-time employment if they want to. There is a variety of job offers to choose from. The wages are attractive and it’s not that hard to make enough money to feel financially independent. You are allowed to work as many hours as you wish and students usually work for about twenty hours a week.

4.6. Contrary to popular belief, it does not rain all the time in Dublin. It does not get too cold or too warm, either. Of course, a raincoat and solid waterproof walking shoes are a must in Dublin as it often gets wet. However, you can expect sunny periods too. So do not forget about T-shirts and shorts that you can put on when the weather is warm.

4.7. Dublin is an exciting city. You can be sure that you’ll meet lots of new people and enjoy yourself in numerous places of cultural interest such as galleries, museums, cinemas and theatres. You can also relax with friends in its many cafés, trendy clubs or traditional pubs, which is also a good opportunity for you to build new relationships and develop social skills
